This year we are changing formats a
little bit and we are going to have an open parent forum once a month. Come share thoughts and ideas to make our
school even better.
Every school is required to have an accountability
group to review CSAP scores and goals. Do
you like looking at numbers, examining data, strategic thinking? The
Accountability group may be the perfect place for you! We're looking for 5-6
volunteers to help our school meet and exceed their CSAP goals. Review action
plans, set short term and long term goals for Math,
Notes from our meeting on September 22nd.
Attendees: Greg Winger, Dan Schlesinger, Sandy Banta, Kurt Gattmann, Jim
Albertson, Sally Helms, Sandi Engelhorn
Overall, Lyon's scores are very good and Lyon's ranks high in the District and
very high against State averages.
We had a lot of discussion around helping kids test better on CSAPs. Greg
talked about the language that the CSAPs use vs. the language that our teachers
may use. It is recommended that our teachers get CSAP practice questions
to give out to the students throughout the year - so the students can become
familiar with the language used.
The Homework program has begun on Tues,Wed, Thurs from 2:45-3:45.
Currently this is focused to High School. Sandi will have a note sent out
to the Booster Club email list requesting caring volunteers to help.
It was also recommended to add 2 items to the Writing Action plan - one dealing
with the gender gap that we have observed in testing scores between boys and
girls; and one focused on improving penmanship as this does impact scores on
the ACT.
We also discussed having yearly growth goals vs. set percentage goals for the
long term and short term goals.
The next meeting has not yet been set.
